A course over 2 twilight sessions: 4&11th February 4.00pm-6.30pm as part of the Big Draw and as part of the LBWF Cultural Education Partnership CPD programme. Learn to kick start a sketch book habit and build confidence in drawing skills using a wide range of materials

Description:

Understanding the pressure on time and resources, we will be running our popular CPD courses as two-part twilight sessions over 2 consecutive Mondays

This course is designed to support implementation of two key aspects of the Art & Design curriculum – the creation of sketch books in which pupils can record, review and revisit ideas and working towards the mastery of art and design techniques with a range of media.

Course tutor:
Sarah Lowe trained as a fine artist. She has worked for 8 years as a primary class teacher, then as an Art specialist with responsibility for whole school curriculum planning.

All materials and tea/coffee included.

Outcome:

Participants will learn how to use sketchbooks by exploring pupils’ and artists’ examples and by creating a sketchbook for themselves throughout the day based on an ‘Inspired by nature’ mini project. Participants will trial a number of fun, simple drawing warm-ups that build observational skills and confidence and will learn strategies which can be used with pupils.

Participants will gain experience of a wide range of drawing materials: different grades of pencils, graphite sticks, pen and ink, pastels, charcoal, and chalk.

Audience:

For Art co-ordinators, teachers and support staff – no art experience needed!
