Outline:

This additional training session is part of the Early Years Teaching and Learning Training Framework and Penny Cartwright (EYFS Consultant) will be leading the session on what young children need and how young children learn best.

Description:

This session will give participants opportunities to consider:

  • the characteristics of effective learning and why these are so important
  • the importance of child centred learning and how this supports children’s development
  • what child centred learning looks like in practice
  • how to identify children’s individual needs and interests
  • how to use children’s interests to plan effectively to support and extend their learning

Important - on the day, Participants will need to bring with them some observations of children playing, a current learning journey and an example of their short term plans.

Outcome:

Practitioners will be able to identify children’s individual needs and interests and how to use these to plan effectively to support and extend their learning.

Audience:

Priority will be given to Childminders, however, Early Years Practitioners from Schools and PVIs are also welcome to apply
