• What are the challenges to wellbeing?
• What role can schools play?
• How can wellbeing be embedded into school policy and practice?
• A taster of approaches (eg positive psychology) tools and interventions that can be used to promote wellbeing in schools


Research has found that a whole school commitment to social emotional wellbeing is most effective in producing results. Increased school wellbeing can enhance attainment, reduce exclusions, re – engage students who have experienced problems, attract and retain staff and raise standards across school
This training will be an introduction to the evidence base from research and practise promoting wellbeing in school.
Promoting wellbeing has been shown to be most effective when implemented using a systemic and strategic approach
The training will present this in a step by step format that can be adapted for individual schools


Ideas and tools for promoting emotional wellbeing in school


Any school staff involved in developing strategic responses to issues around wellbeing in schools in all educational settings particularly primary and secondary schools.
