Outline:

The session will focus on:
• Strategies to prepare SEND children for transition to Reception.
• The role of the SENCOs and EY leads in supporting with this transition.
• Parental and child involvement in the transition process.

Description:

Practitioners from early years settings from both PVIs and schools will be introduced to a range of strategies to prepare SEND children transition into Reception Class. Including the role of the SENCOs and EY leads in supporting with this transition with other practitioners, as well as involving parents/carers and the child with the transition process.

Outcome:

Practitioners will gain an understanding of a range of strategies to prepare children with SEND transition.
Practitioners will be informed of their role in supporting transition
Practitioners will gain an understanding of how to involve the parent and child in the transition process

This course is suitable for Early Years Foundation Stage professionals from Schools and PVI settings with lead/key responsibility for meeting the SEND code of practice requirements and supporting children with developmental delay/SEND e.g. Senco’s in Schools or PVI settings, EYFS leads in schools & Managers in PVI’s, Keyworkers for children with SEND and Schools with EYFS provision and Ofsted registered PVI sector providers on the Early Years Register
