This training session is part of the Early Years Teaching and Learning Training Framework and Prospects Services Ltd will be leading the session on how to reflect on & evaluate the quality of teaching strategies, SMART action planning & strategic development and how to observe staff effectively to improve outcomes for children (management supervision)
Description:
The course will:
Support practitioners to identify what the features of outstanding teaching and learning are.
Use research, the Ofsted Early Years’ Inspection handbook and examples of effective practice to identify what outstanding teaching and learning looks like.
Introduce practitioners to the ITERS (Infant Toddler Rating Scales) and ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales) tools as a way of auditing and improving current practice and provision.
Support practitioners to use the grade descriptors in the Ofsted Early Years’ Inspection handbook to identify how to move from good to outstanding.
Support practitioners to create a shared vision for their setting.
Develop practitioners’ understanding of what SMART action planning is and why this is important in improving quality and outcomes for children.
Provide practitioners with practical examples of how successful SMART action planning has been used to improve quality and outcomes for children.
Use case studies to provide practitioners with the opportunity to identify improvement priorities and use SMART action planning.
Support practitioners’ understanding of what effective supervision is.
Introduce practitioners to the Performance Management Cycle.
Support practitioners’ understanding of the difference between supervision and appraisal.
Provide practitioners with the opportunity to practice carrying out a supervision, including how to challenge weaknesses in practice and performance.
Introduce practitioners to a range of monitoring tools and explore how to use these to observe and evaluate teaching and learning.
Outcome:
Practitioners will be able to:
Identify what the features of outstanding teaching and learning are.
Improve the quality and outcomes for children using SMART action planning.
Use a range of monitoring tools to observe and evaluate teaching and learning.
