• To understand and fulfil governors’ roles and responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare for children. • To ensure effectiveness in discharging of governors’ core statutory safeguarding functions. • To ensure that governors have a clear and up to date understanding of the spectrum of safeguarding within the context of Ofsted inspections, LA procedures and complaints. • Effectively plan for, monitor and challenge senior leadership and staff to excel in their safeguarding arrangements by communicating and implementing a vision for outstanding safeguarding and best practice.

This course combines Ofsted’s view of what outstanding governance and safeguarding looks like according to their own inspection criteria. It will be beneficial for governors to bring a copy of their Safeguarding policy/procedures to the training for reference.
