Course Code:

EYTL-0617-T014

Outline:

* We will look at evidence for children from ‘emerging, expected and exceeding’ levels of attainment.

* Working as a group, we will decide if the judgements that have been made are accurate.

* This important work will reflect the professionalism of practitioners in Early Years settings to share their accumulated knowledge of children with teachers in the child’s next educational setting.

Description:

Looking at EYFS learning journals and evidence of work to accurately reflect the judgements made around a child’s attainment prior to starting school.

As part of the transition to school, practitioners in Early Years settings write reports and decide what level of attainment a child has reached. This information is sent off to schools but from there it can sometimes be difficult to know how and if this information was received.

Through this training session we want to empower practitioners to feel confident that the information passed on to schools about a child’s attainment is accurate, robust and relevant.

We want teachers in schools to receive transition information and take notice of it and to find it helpful and informative about individual children.

Outcome:

As a result of attending this session, you will be more informed about making accurate judgements about a child’s attainment level through working with EY colleagues, teachers from school and course tutors.
Transition information will be informative and succinct and your contribution will be welcomed by the child’s next educational setting.
