Outline:

A review of current legislation and statutory guidance and how it applies to the education (particularly admission and exclusion) of Looked After Children and formerly Looked After Children.

Description:

Waltham Forest Virtual school will review with participants, relevant legislation, research and guidance in order to support governing bodies to develop best practice and sound policies. Practical strategies for problem solving will be shared.

Outcome:

In order for governing bodies to develop best practice around Looked After Children and Formerly Looked After Children in their school, an understanding of the law and how it applies is essential. This course aims to give participants the broader picture behind the guidance as well as an examination of its practical application in day-to-day school matters. All participants to have an understanding of relevant current legislation and statutory guidance, the context around it and the implications for situations arising for Looked After Children and Formerly Looked After Children in school.
