Outline:

The session for child-minders will:

•outline the national statutory guidance as it applies to childcare along with the Think Family principles that inform the work we do with families in Waltham Forest.

•help to develop knowledge and confidence around supporting children with SEND.

Description:

The MASH referral session will provide information around understanding of responsibilities to safeguard children ; to identify vulnerable children and young people as early as possible; to identify the threshold criteria of different levels of intervention and the referral process; to be equipped to work in a coordinated way to help children before things reach to a crisis point; to identify the reasons for changes in legislation and policy; to apply new learning in respect of the lessons of Serious Case Reviews and the impact of them upon practice.

The Introduction to Supporting Children with SEND session will provide information around current legislation around supporting children with SEND as well as using the ‘graduated Response’ to support children’s development outcomes.

Outcome:

Practitioners will be well informed about their safeguarding responsibilities, thresholds, referral procedures with MASH.
Practitioners will have a better understanding of current legislation around SEND
Practitioners will be more confident in supporting the development of children with SEND

This training is a repeat of the Childminder Drop-In Briefing Sessions. will take place during the usual Childminder Drop-in session and will be repeated twice. k
If you fail to do this a minimum of 48 hours before the training you will not be able to take part.
