Early Years Teaching and Learning Support

This course will provide Early Years Practitioners with the confidence and skills to promote a fully inclusive approach to children with English as an Additional Language (EAL). As part of the course, methods for tracking progress and promoting literacy will be explored along with strategies for adapting these to meet the needs of individual children.

Course participants will be given an overview of the issues affecting EAL children, including factors which may form barriers to progression in learning.
As part of this there will be an exploration of common problems faced by children during the early stages of language acquisition.
The course will also :
• explore the use of visual aids to support and develop all round learning, including strategies and resources to promote language skills.
• consider how to raise EAL children’s self-esteem and motivate them to achieve well and exceed their learning targets.

Early Years Practitioners will be equipped with the necessary skills to identify and support the specific needs of EAL children
