Outline:

• Understanding the importance of joint attention
• How to develop attention in children who have reduced social engagement
• Strategies to engage the child to maintain interest in the adult

Description:

Developing joint attention is a precursor and foundation to developing language, social skills and learning

This half day introduction using examples and ideas from a variety of sources will give practitioners strategies and ideas to promote early attention skills in those children who struggle with this skill

Outcome:

Early Years Practitioners will be more confident in addressing the needs of children who have a Social Communication Difficulty by using clear, simple and effective means

Audience:

Early years practitioners in PVI, or schools.
