Childminders will have the opportunity to explore what heuristic play is, consider how to make their own heuristic play collection and introduce them to the children in their setting.
Description:
Heuristic play is rooted in a young child’s natural curiosity and urge to explore and handle objects. Discover how heuristic play offers a structured opportunity for a group of young children to explore a large number of different objects – conkers, curtain rings, Sellotape rolls, jar lids - with which they can play freely with without adult intervention. There will be an opportunity for your children to take part in heuristic play during the session.
Outcome:
Childminders will gain an understanding of the benefits of heuristic play and consider how to develop these ideas in their setting.
Booking information:
This training will take place during the usual Childminder Drop-in session and will be repeated twice. Please ensure you book on to the correct session – either session one or session two.
If you are attending with children it is YOUR responsibility to arrange with another Childminder/s to supervise your children while you are in the training. You will also need to ensure you have permission from every child’s parents for them to be supervised by another childminder while you are in the training.

If you fail to do this a minimum of 48 hours before the training you will not be able to take part.
