Outline:

Participants will:
• Understand the importance of the physical and learning environment for encouraging language and communication skills
• Find out ways to develop your setting to become more communication-friendly
• Gain practical ideas for activities which promote and encourage young children to talk

Description:

This is an interactive workshop, providing Early Years Practitioners with opportunities to reflect on the importance of the physical and learning environment for developing language and communication. This will include use of video reflection, practical activities and group discussions. Practitioners will receive practical strategies to take back to their setting to develop in order to support the transfer of their learning.

Outcome:

Practitioners will develop their knowledge, skills and confidence in ways to promote young children’s language and communication through the physical and learning environment.

Audience:

Priority will be given to Early Years Practitioners from Schools, Maintained Nurseries and PVIs, however, Childminders are also welcome to apply
