High quality professional support services and network for School Business Managers


It is increasingly important that schools ensure that they have strong business management and administration to ensure that they meet their key statutory requirements in regards to Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Health and Safety and Premises Management. The majority of schools now have School Business Managers who oversee these, and other areas such as infrastructure and marketing.

The aim of the Education Business Support Service (EBSS) is to provide advice, guidance and training to Business Managers within schools, to support best practice and CPD in order to avoid poor audit and Ofsted judgements and increase the sustainability of all schools within Waltham Forest.

The Education Business Support Service delivers the following services as part of the Universal Offer 2016/17:

• WF SBM Network meetings;
• WF SBM Online Community Group;
• Support and Information via The Hub; and
• Telephone and email advice and support.

The Key for School Leaders

The national information service that provides busy school leaders with instant answers to their questions on all aspects of managing a school.

The Key for School Leaders is directly linked to Waltham Forest’s Hub website via a plug-in tool, designed to equip the Waltham Forest website for Education professionals with up-to-the-minute education news, information and guidance.

The Key for School Governors

The national information service that provides governors with guidance, insight and instant answers to their questions on all aspects of school governance.

There are new and updated articles published every day on both websites with the answers to over 3,200 school leader questions on The Key for School Leaders and over 1,400 questions and answers on The Key for School Governors.

No question is too big or too small. Articles cover topics such as raising achievement, preparing for inspection, financial management, recruitment, safeguarding and school improvement planning.

Every answer researched is shared online with all members of our community, for the benefit of more schools. Every user will receive their own unique login, so they can search for articles and ask questions with full anonymity and users can ask as many questions as they wish.

Annual subscription for The Key for School Leaders and The Key for School Governors

As part of the Education Business Support Service’s Universal Offer to schools for 2015/16 and 2016/17 negotiations were undertaken with organisations highlighted by the majority of schools as offering quality services.

In 2015/16 and 2016/17 subscriptions for The Key for Schools Leaders was paid via the Universal Offer for all schools in Waltham Forest. With the end of the Universal Offer this central subscription has ended, however the Education Business Support Service has continued to negotiate on behalf of schools to provide a significant discounts for Waltham Forest Schools for both The Key for School Leaders and The Key for School Governors.

To secure these reduced rates schools are required to sign up for The Key subscriptions by 31st March 2017.
