Careers Service

Linda Leigh, Careers Service Manager

"Personal guidance has an observable impact on young people's careers and progression, and young people continue to have a clear preference for face-to-face support. Guidance must be impartial and delivered by qualified practitioners, putting the needs of the individual first".

The Careers Strategy

More details

The Careers Service is located within Waltham Forest Council, which gives us specific access to local labour market information and trends, and to the future skills specifically needed in our borough and in London.

- We take a joined-up working approach with colleagues in the Families and Homes Directorate, local colleges and employers to ensure that young people and parents/carers can make confident informed choices about education and career options.

- The Careers Advisers we select come from a range of public and private sector backgrounds; they are all qualified to QCF level 6 or 7 in careers guidance, which is the required DfE standard, and have enhanced DBS clearance.

- As affiliate members of the Careers Development Institute (CDI) we ensure that our Careers Advisers abide by professional standards and the CDI code of ethics
