Waltham Forest Council has put in place a number of Local Codes of Practice (LCoPs), which schools should follow to ensure they meet all of the statutory requirements as laid out in the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. Further information can be found on the Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE’s) website.
The HSE has also produced guidance for schools (state funded and independent), further education establishments and higher education institutions, in terms of managing the significant risks for pupils and members of staff. The site makes clear that a sensible approach to risk management is essential.
