Evidence-based Parenting Programmes
About our service
The Early Help Service arranges monthly parenting programmes across the Borough. We provide trained and experienced course facilitators who work in conjunction with host schools to give parents all the tools and confidence they need to parent their children more effectively, to manage challenging behaviour and to support their children's education.
This service is all council funded.
What we offer
Free courses, open to all parents on a self-referral or referral basis (the referral form is available for logged-in users to download below).
Agencies referring include schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Children's Social Care (CSC), GPs, Children's Centres, Targeted Youth Support Services (TYSS) and the Early Help Service.
Benefits of using our service
There is an international body of evidence which demonstrates the value of parenting programmes and the positive role they can play.
This service enables you to draw upon the support of an experienced team of trained parenting facilitators, offering a range of evidence-based parenting programmes across the borough – Triple P (Primary and Teens), Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC) – either within your school or a school/venue nearby where you can refer your parents.
The service has invested in the training of facilitators to deliver evidence-based training. Early Help organises the programme in partnership with social care, schools and Children's Centres and liaises with schools and Children's Centres to arrange venues to host the programme.
Currently this service is free of charge and the parenting course facilitators do not charge for their time.
