To define the term ‘gang’
To explore recent trends including county lines, sexual exploitation and child criminal exploitation.
To identify the evolution of county lines, youth violence and gangs
To recognise risk factors, indicators and reasons as to why young people get involved with gangs.
To raise awareness of social media and how this impacts on the current levels of street violence
To provide practitioners with information on the local context, the Waltham Forest Gangs Prevention Programme and referral mechanisms.

Outline
This 2-hour training session will develop your understanding on gangs.
Outcome
The session will cover the current risk factors including county lines, child sexual exploitation and how young people are being groomed and exploited into gangs and criminality. The training also provides information on Waltham Forest Councils Gangs Prevention Programme and services available to support young people at risk.
