Private fostering

Private fostering is when a child under the age of 16 (18 if disabled), is cared for or intended to be cared for, and provided with accommodation by someone other than a parent, person with parental responsibility, or a close relative, i.e. an aunt, uncle, step-parent, grand-parent, sibling but not a cousin or great aunt/uncle for a period of for 28 days or more.

Support is offered to private foster carers if required.
