School Monitoring Policy

Waltham Forest is committed to ensuring the highest quality learning experience for all children and young people, be it through child care, early learning, primary and secondary schools, post-16 provision and into adult learning. Children and young people will be healthy and safe in all settings.

In Waltham Forest we recognise and promote the power of partnership working: a partnership between families, education providers, the local authority and other key professional groups in ensuring that the Waltham Forest educational offer is amongst the best in the country.

The Council is clear that educational improvement is driven by schools themselves and that our relationship is one of strong, respectful partnership. The role of the local authority is to monitor, support and challenge where appropriate, in line with our continued statutory accountability for local authority maintained schools and as overall champion of educational standards on behalf of all children and parents.
